3 AM Ideas

January17

I woke up this morning at 3 AM with an idea for a book. I could have gone back to sleep, but then my idea would have been lost forever. I got up and wrote the two page synopsis. I expect it would take me about three months to go from idea to a finished book I liked.

I did three things with the synopsis. I sent it to a friend at a publishing house I like to see if it was commercially viable, I sent it to a writer friend and I filed it in my One Notes section under ideas.

Now I am going back to bed. It’s almost 5:30. If you want to see the synopsis, leave your email address in the comments box and I’ll send it to you.

The doctor calls it surgery, I call it research

January12

I’m typing with one hand this morning. I had surgery yesterday for trigger finger. I’m not in pain (whoo-hoo) but most assuredly inconvenienced. The best thing was the sights, sounds and smells of a full on operation. I kept telling Roger, who sat at my bedside pre and post operation, how this experience is going to end up in my next book.

Welcome to my website/blog. As I blog, you’re going to learn a little more about how I think and what drives me. I’ll talk about books, characters in books and how I come up with ideas. Sometimes it will be focused on writing and sometimes not. I’m not above waxing philosophical on any given day. Please enjoy your stay and feel free to comment and let me know what you think!  Melissa
